Sushi Monster is a truly great sushi restaurant. Every time we eat there we wonder how such great sushi can be nestled in such a small town the size of Farmington.
The service is great, every time we go the owner comes out and talks to us and asks us if we enjoyed the sushi.
It’s hard to find a sushi restaurant that has such great rolls. They are very large, fresh and tasty! Their rolls are always accompanied by a dish of yum yum sauce if you like but many of their rolls don’t need it.
Today I went of the specials menu and wanted to try something different. I opted for the Volcano Roll and the Kampyo/Kanpyo Maki Roll which is a Japanese gourd roll. The Volcano Roll is really a masterpiece both to behold and taste. It reminded me a bit of the Grand Canyon Sushi Roll a bit but with it’s own great flavor. If you like the warm mixture of the fried crab and cream cheese melting in your mouth you’re going to love this roll. It’s just heavenly!
For a change I thought I’d go with something a little more simple in presentation, flavor and number of ingredients. The Kampyo roll sounds a bit odd at first when you hear that it’s a Japanese gourd roll, but honestly it was like my first taste of Tamago, quite surprising! The gourd didn’t taste bad at all and had me quickly going back for more. I pictured a roll with vegetables that my mother made me eat when I was young, but the gourd was tender, fresh and had a flavor that I liked a lot. This will definitely be a roll that I order again. It’s so simply yet so tasty!
Located at Farmington Station in Farmington, Sushi Monster is drawing quite a following and it seems busier and busier every time I go. It’s no doubt others are starting to discover what we’ve known for a while, just how great a find it is. Located next to a growing shopping offering it’s great for lunch with friends or before or after a movie at the movie theater next door. Next time you’re in the area stop and enjoy some sushi, you won’t regret it! Tell them Utah Sushi Roll sent you.
Phoenix Roll Description: The Phoenix Roll was one of my favorites that I tried at Sushi Family as well. It’s a little more simple than the other rolls but still tasty with the mixture of tempura shrimp and tuna on the top. Great pair to order together with the Yellowstone Roll.
Yellowstone Roll Description: The Yellowstone Roll was one of my favorites that I tried. Shrimp, spicy tuna with salmon and escolar, how can you go wrong. This isn’t for the beginner because of the amount of raw fish and spicy sauce but it’s very delicious.

Overall Rating: 3.25
On a trip back from a family vacation we stopped in Pocatello and I wanted to try the all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant called Sushi Family on Yellowstone. Last time through Poky I noticed that they had two sushi restaurants, Sumisu Sushi and Asian Fusion and Sushi Family. Sumisu is a typical sushi restaurant and Sushi Family is all-you-can-eat. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating.
I was very pleased with the overall quality of Sushi Family’s food, the sushi tasted fresh. The crunchy things crunched and the tender bits melted in my mouth. I ordered off the C menu and I expected the rolls to be higher quality and they were. The Yellowstone and Phoenix quickly became two of my favorites here.
The restaurant seemed very clean, I didn’t see anything to cause me to worry. It’s an older building that used to be used for something else and the decorations seem a bit eclectic, but all in all it was a clean restaurant.
The service was good. I was seated quickly with a friendly welcome. The first rolls took a little bit to get but I was encouraged to order more even when I was full. The service was good.
The price is typical for a sushi restaurant for an all-you-can-eat restaurant, slightly lower than a typical Salt Lake restaurant.
