Overall Rating: 3.8
Stopped by for a nice lunch for my first visit to Tsunami at Union Heights and I was pleasantly surprised.  I’ve heard a lot about Tsunami over the years but have not had the chance to sample their sushi thus far.  I have to say the restaurant lived up to the hype.  The quality of the food, service and price are all spot on.  I made sure to get a VIP card as I’ll be back again…soon!

Quality: 4.5
The quality of sushi at Tsunami is a step above the rest to be honest.   Even on a simple roll the quality of the ingredients and preparation were top notch.  The combination of ingredients created some distinct and tantalizing flavors in my mouth.

Cleanliness: 4
The restaurant is in a fairly new area and the inside is nicely decorated and everything seemed very clean.  It’s a high-class establishment.  No small stoves and tinfoil hanging off the shelf here.  Very tidy and pleasant to sit down and enjoy some sushi.

Service: 3.5
The service was great.  I had a new waiter that was being trained but they were very attentive and my glass was never empty.  Service was great and I didn’t want for anything.

Price: 3.5
For a higher end sushi restaurant I would have expected the prices to be much higher.  Tsunami has been able to bring a quality product to their customers with some personal touches at a price that doesn’t break the bank.

Overall Rating: 3.25
We were downtown at the City Creek mall and were wandering through the food court to find a quick bite to eat and when I think of sushi from a food court I pu it on par with sushi from the grocery store.  While both those seem a step behind a good sit-down restaurant I’ve got to say I was pleasantly surprised with Mr. Sushi.  The food was way better than I expected and it was the first time my sushi has been prepared in-front of me with a flaming platter, so A for presentation there. So if your downtown at City Creek and looking for an alternative to the Cheesecake Factory for a quick bite, check out Mr. Sushi, you may just be pleasantly surprised at how good the food is.

Quality: 3.5
I tried the Dynamite and the Vegas rolls.  the taste of the Dynamite roll was very good.  The Vegas roll too was on par with many sushi restaurants that I’ve been to and well above what you’d get in a grocery store. One in the win column for food court sushi.

Cleanliness: 3.5
This sushi restaurant is in City Creek which is a new property and pretty upscale.  It’s in the food court but over there isn’t a lot for the customer to interact with during their experience, so I’ve got to say everything looked fairly clean from my perspective maybe a little tight for room because it’s a food court and that can make it look a little cluttered, but I was happy with the experience from this standpoint.

Service: 3
The service was good. The greeting wasn’t the friendliest, but you’re dealing with mass quantities in a food court after all.  I’m still excited about the fact that my sushi was cooking in front of me in tin foil on a flaming platter and so the presentation points and service go way up.  The general lack of a friendly greeting and explanation of the process could go a long way to improving the experience, but then again this isn’t Takashi or Mikado.

Price: 3
You expect to get gouged at a food court for poor quality food but I was pleasantly surprised.  The food was good and it didn’t break the bank.  They have some affordable specials that make it easier to try a number of different rolls.  The meal also comes with two free sides.  I had the edamame pods an some fried vegetables.  The quantity of these sides wasn’t over abundant, but it was a nice touch to the meal and I was pleased.

Overall Rating: 3.6
On a trip to Vancouver Washington we toured along the norther Oregon Coast.  One day we stopped for lunch in Seaside Oregon and found Tora Sushi Lounge.  It’s a great location right near the beach so we were sure to have fresh fish.  The roads in the older part of town are very narrow but Tora is right on the corner and you can park across the street by the hardware store.  The restaurant is decorated pretty cool with authentic looking Japanese artwork and pieces.  We were served quickly and the food was super fresh and super tasty.  It was a momentous occasion as my wife tried and successfully ate her first sushi roll.  For some time I have been trying to convince her that sushi isn’t just raw fish and that there would be some sushi that she’d actually like.  The Spicy Scallop roll in soy paper was the roll that did it.  Nothing too grand, but still a first step.

Quality: 4.5
I was very pleased with the overall quality of Tora Sushi Lounge.  I expected fresh tasting ingredients and I wasn’t disappointing.  Everything tasted and looked fresh!

Cleanliness: 3.5
The restaurant looks like it’s been open for some time yet the furnishings were fairly new and I didn’t see anything obvious.  There are a lot of decorations in this place and with the constant beach sand it could become a problem but I didn’t notice anything that gave me cause for concern.

Service: 3
The service was good.  We were one of the first ones in for the evening service and though we had a small wait to order our food came out fairly quickly.  The waitress wasn’t overly nice or inquisitive but provided service with a smile.  A little more friendliness could go a long way.

Price: 3.5
The price is typical for a sushi restaurant for a tourist area.  They have a happy hour with actually very reasonably priced rolls and sashimi.  I wasn’t disturbed by the price and found that I could get a fair selection at rather reasonable prices.

Overall Rating: 3.25
On a trip back from a family vacation we stopped in Pocatello and I wanted to try the all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant called Sushi Family on Yellowstone. Last time through Poky I noticed that they had two sushi restaurants, Sumisu Sushi and Asian Fusion and Sushi Family.  Sumisu is a typical sushi restaurant and Sushi Family is all-you-can-eat.  The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Quality: 3.5
I was very pleased with the overall quality of Sushi Family’s food, the sushi tasted fresh.  The crunchy things crunched and the tender bits melted in my mouth.  I ordered off the C menu and I expected the rolls to be higher quality and they were.  The Yellowstone and Phoenix quickly became two of my favorites here.

Cleanliness: 3
The restaurant seemed very clean, I didn’t see anything to cause me to worry.  It’s an older building that used to be used for something else and the decorations seem a bit eclectic, but all in all it was a clean restaurant.

Service: 3.5
The service was good.  I was seated quickly with a friendly welcome.  The first rolls took a little bit to get but I was encouraged to order more even when I was full.  The service was good.

Price: 3
The price is typical for a sushi restaurant for an all-you-can-eat restaurant, slightly lower than a typical Salt Lake restaurant.
