Utah Sushi Roll Expert Review:
Our expert reviews take into account four factors: food quality, cleanliness of location, service and price. Ratings are on a 1 to 5 scale with 5 being outstanding. Our rating for this Restaurant is as follows:

Overall Rating: 3.8
Stopped by for a nice lunch for my first visit to Tsunami at Union Heights and I was pleasantly surprised.  I’ve heard a lot about Tsunami over the years but have not had the chance to sample their sushi thus far.  I have to say the restaurant lived up to the hype.  The quality of the food, service and price are all spot on.  I made sure to get a VIP card as I’ll be back again…soon!

Quality: 4.5
The quality of sushi at Tsunami is a step above the rest to be honest.   Even on a simple roll the quality of the ingredients and preparation were top notch.  The combination of ingredients created some distinct and tantalizing flavors in my mouth.

Cleanliness: 4
The restaurant is in a fairly new area and the inside is nicely decorated and everything seemed very clean.  It’s a high-class establishment.  No small stoves and tinfoil hanging off the shelf here.  Very tidy and pleasant to sit down and enjoy some sushi.

Service: 3.5
The service was great.  I had a new waiter that was being trained but they were very attentive and my glass was never empty.  Service was great and I didn’t want for anything.

Price: 3.5
For a higher end sushi restaurant I would have expected the prices to be much higher.  Tsunami has been able to bring a quality product to their customers with some personal touches at a price that doesn’t break the bank.

Overall Rating: 3.25
We were downtown at the City Creek mall and were wandering through the food court to find a quick bite to eat and when I think of sushi from a food court I pu it on par with sushi from the grocery store.  While both those seem a step behind a good sit-down restaurant I’ve got to say I was pleasantly surprised with Mr. Sushi.  The food was way better than I expected and it was the first time my sushi has been prepared in-front of me with a flaming platter, so A for presentation there. So if your downtown at City Creek and looking for an alternative to the Cheesecake Factory for a quick bite, check out Mr. Sushi, you may just be pleasantly surprised at how good the food is.

Quality: 3.5
I tried the Dynamite and the Vegas rolls.  the taste of the Dynamite roll was very good.  The Vegas roll too was on par with many sushi restaurants that I’ve been to and well above what you’d get in a grocery store. One in the win column for food court sushi.

Cleanliness: 3.5
This sushi restaurant is in City Creek which is a new property and pretty upscale.  It’s in the food court but over there isn’t a lot for the customer to interact with during their experience, so I’ve got to say everything looked fairly clean from my perspective maybe a little tight for room because it’s a food court and that can make it look a little cluttered, but I was happy with the experience from this standpoint.

Service: 3
The service was good. The greeting wasn’t the friendliest, but you’re dealing with mass quantities in a food court after all.  I’m still excited about the fact that my sushi was cooking in front of me in tin foil on a flaming platter and so the presentation points and service go way up.  The general lack of a friendly greeting and explanation of the process could go a long way to improving the experience, but then again this isn’t Takashi or Mikado.

Price: 3
You expect to get gouged at a food court for poor quality food but I was pleasantly surprised.  The food was good and it didn’t break the bank.  They have some affordable specials that make it easier to try a number of different rolls.  The meal also comes with two free sides.  I had the edamame pods an some fried vegetables.  The quantity of these sides wasn’t over abundant, but it was a nice touch to the meal and I was pleased.

Simply Sushi is Simply Amazing

Simply Sushi is simply amazing. Almost every time I think about going out for sushi I’ll look at sushi restaurants around me, check out their website and read their menu. Then I look at the prices and it’s hard for me not to think of Simply Sushi’s slogan, which is true. For the same price as one or two rolls at most other places you can get all you can eat sushi. Their sushi lunch is $14.95 and dinner is $21.95.

I recently went there again for lunch and as always was completely satisfied. I tried a few new items and fell in love with the Rangoon Roll. Is it the best sushi in the state, probably not. Is it the best all you can eat for the price sushi in the state, I’d say yes. The quality is always high, the service is lightning fast especially if you sit at the sushi bar and the chefs are fairly friendly which is important to me. I will always consider how I was treated the last time I ate at a restaurant before going back, so that is important.

So whether you are starving and want an all you can eat sushi restaurant for a quick lunch break or ready for some really good sushi for a nice dinner out on the town check out Simply Sushi.
